What is the difference between server-side and client-side transcoding?
|
 |
 |
The main difference is where the transcoding is actually happens. The server-side transcoding downloads original files from the uploader’s PC then transcodes at the server. And the client- side transcoding downloads edited and transcoded files from uploader’s PC to the server.
Below shows the comparison between server-side and client-side transcoding.

A video file is not registering correctly. |
 |
 |
1) Codec Problem ( Error : Decoder Not Present, Cannot Transcode, Cannot Extract Thumbnail)
The windows system requires corresponding codec(s) to be installed. If the codec is not installed properly, the file cannot be transcoded and registered.
*If the file can be played using Windows Media Player, then the corresponding codec for the file is installed.
** If the corresponding codec is not installed, please install unified codec pack.
Unified Codecs
K-Lite :

http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_download.htm
2) Damaged Video File (Decoding and thumbnail extraction has no problems but cannot transcode)
If any frame is damaged in the file, transcode cannot be performed.
(Player/decoder back can ignore the damaged frame(s) but transcoding cannot ignore them.)
3) Uploaders PC Problem (Hard to be corrected)
Damaged registry, virus, low specs, missing dll files and others can cause errors during transcoding. Uploader needs to address this problems ( reinstall OS and etc)
4) Special Video Format
If unified codec has been installed but when transcoding
K3G or MP4 files cause error, then please remove K-Lite Mega
Codec and reinstall. |
